As Brand Manager for the NFLPA, I led the creative direction for the 2024 NFLPA Rookie Premiere, ensuring the visual identity was both distinctive and aligned with the event's vision. The concept originated from the events team’s desire for a retro-inspired aesthetic for the 30th anniversary of the event, leading me to explore design motifs from past decades. After going through several choices, we landed on a bold 1970s-inspired look, which resonated most with the team.
The final design incorporates geometric linework, vibrant color palettes, and structured typography, reminiscent of classic branding from the '70s. These elements balance some nostalgia with a modern execution, creating a unique and engaging experience for the event.
The branding was implemented across a variety of digital and physical assets, including event credentials, signage, schedules, and promotional materials. These visuals enhanced the event’s atmosphere and provided a cohesive identity that tied the experience together for attendees.
This project was a rewarding blend of storytelling, brand heritage, and immersive design, allowing me to craft an aesthetic that honored the past while celebrating the future of the next generation of NFL athletes.
Sodexo Food Service @ Howard University
I truly enjoyed the opportunity to return to my alma mater and design for an audience I was once a part of while working with Sodexo. My goal was to create modern, vibrant, and student-focused designs that resonated with the campus community.
During my time there, I had the honor of designing a new representative logo for the café, reinforcing brand identity while maintaining a fresh, inviting aesthetic. Most of my work incorporated the school’s red and blue color palette to strengthen brand association, with occasional flexibility for themed campaigns.
To ensure consistency across marketing materials, I utilized a clean sans-serif typeface and introduced a low-opacity, repetitive food background across flyers, creating a cohesive visual identity. Each design was carefully adapted for both print and social media, optimizing layouts for different formats while preserving clarity and impact.
The Ultimate Legends Mixer celebrated new Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees and other NFL legends. For this event, I designed a classic and timeless visual theme, symbolizing the players’ lasting legacy. I incorporated gold lettering and accents, inspired by the Hall of Fame busts, to reinforce the prestige of the occasion, while the black-and-white background imagery of legendary players added a sense of history and reverence. A old yearbook came to mind while I was designing.
As part of the festivities, the NFLPA hosted an exclusive golf tournament for select inductees, the 2024 NFLPA Executive Invitational. I designed the event flyer to reflect the elegance and exclusivity of the occasion, using a deep green color palette reminiscent of classic golf course aesthetics. The typography balances bold, metallic gold lettering with clean, modern sans-serif fonts. I developed a few materials for the event, ensuring a cohesive visual identity.
I collaborated with my Creative Director on this campaign, developing a classic yet modern visual theme by incorporating our signature green alongside black and white elements. This approach not only created a timeless aesthetic but also seamlessly integrated the limited black-and-white imagery available of Dorothy Richardson.
Beyond design, I worked closely with the vendor to produce awardee videos and created a PowerPoint presentation highlighting each honoree, locking in a polished visual experience.
Here are a few key components from the project.
At NeighborWorks America, there are a few NeighborWorks Training Institutes but with COVID-19 we had to make a pivot to make the event virtual. I established the branding by picking from our branding colors and using them to accent the designs and material that compliment the institute.
I created the video and social media graphics for promotion. I went with a different style to introduce the speakers than I did for the event itself but still including branding and logo to unify. There was also branding to promote the classes that would be available.
National Harbor
Working with National Harbor was an exciting opportunity, as I was able to see my designs displayed across their many digital screens. This role challenged me to adapt graphics for various dimensions and mediums, strengthening my skills in graphic manipulation and optimization for different formats.
Given National Harbor’s corporate brand identity, I focused on clean, straightforward designs that emphasized realism and high-quality imagery to effectively capture and convey the guest experience.
Live @ House: SHAED
During my time at House Studios, I had the opportunity to photograph Live @ House, one of their signature events. Capturing high-quality images in a low-light setting was a challenge, but I tried my best to use the staging and lighting to compose dynamic and engaging shots that reflected the energy of the event.
